The union
The Union fought against slavery in the war. They win the war, but not without a huge sacrifice as well. The Union president was Abraham Lincoln, and the army general was Ulysses S. Grant. The North had the advantage with more money, industry, and a higher population, but they had more casualties in the war than the South did. The North had a total of 642,427 casualties, and most people died from disease. The Union wins after the surrender of Robert E Lee's Confederate troops in Texas.
